Dear Parents & Caregivers,

In Term 2 of this year, we entered selected music ensembles and soloists to perform in the Captivate Arts Factor Eisteddfod. After receiving outstanding results on the day, our College band Intensify and the Jam 5 rock band, were invited to perform in the Arts Factor Music Festival, on Thursday 31 October, at the Joan Sutherland Performing Arts Centre in Penrith.

As part of the criteria for performing at the festival, both ensembles will participate in a workshop with Captivate on Wednesday 16th October, during school hours, at the College.

At this stage, we have not been provided with all of the details for the concert on Thursday 31st October, however, we will ensure that this information is passed onto you as soon as we receive it. From the information we have been given so far, the students involved in these ensembles, will come to school at their usual arrival time on Thursday 31st October. The college will bus the students to the Joan Sutherland Performing Arts Centre in Penrith, to perform at the 12:30pm matinee show. The audience for this show will be students from the schools who are participating in the festival. After the concert, the students will be supervised in the afternoon, where they will attend a workshop from performers in the music industry. A dinner break will then be provided.

In the evening, we would like to invite the families and friends of our music students, to come and support them for the Arts Factor Festival concert. This concert will be held at the Joan Sutherland Performing Arts Centre. Ticket prices, the starting time and duration of the concert are yet to be confirmed by Captivate. We do ask, that you please collect your child from the venue at the end of this concert. If you are unable to attend the performance at night, we will inform you of an estimated time for pick-up, once we have been provided with this information.

If you have any questions regarding the festival, please feel free to email or contact me at the College on 9654-6700.

Your faithfully,

Mrs Linda Austin
Music Teacher
