Dear Parents & Caregivers,

Recently there have been reports that some students are deliberately spraying deodorant aerosols to burn themselves. This could be occurring at home or at school. The so called “challenge” , promoted on various forms of the internet, is to spray the deodorant close to the skin for as long as possible. It is a form of deliberate self harm and will permanently damage the skin if done for long enough.  At Marian Catholic College, we have a “no” aerosol policy. If your son or daughter needs to bring deodorant please ensure they have a roll on version.

In an effort to help protect children, can you please open up a conversation with your teenager about the dangers of this practice, both at home and at school.

Thanks for your help in keeping our students safe at Marian.
