Dear Parents and Caregivers of Year 10 Students,
On Monday 5 March 2018, students in Year 10 will complete the Year 10 Allwell Tests which are facilitated by Academic Assessment Services Pty Ltd. These tests assess aptitude and ability in the key areas of literacy and numeracy as well as career awareness and interests. This testing is aligned with NAPLAN and provides the College with rich data on student understanding, feedback on curriculum, teaching and learning programs, and individual student information to assist with Year 11 subject selection and careers.
The testing will occur on one day, taking place in the Shared Hall at 9am. The tests will conclude at 1.15pm. Students will need a blue or black pen, a scientific calculator (not a CAS) and a water bottle. The students will have their recess and lunch breaks at the usual times and will attend classes in Periods 4 (shortened) and 5. To ensure that all students have a fair opportunity to respond to the tests, provisions will be available for students with difficulties or a temporary or permanent disability. Students with will sit these tests in the Hall breakout rooms (H1-H4).
Individual student academic and career report booklets will be sent home to parents with their son/daughter’s results approximately four weeks after the tests. The report booklet is provided to families to support discussions about student achievement, strengths, career interests and pathways, and areas in which students can apply themselves to face challenges in their learning. These results will be thoroughly reviewed by teachers, the Year Leader and Careers staff to ensure that individual student needs are catered for within School planning and teaching and learning programmes.
If students miss completing the Year 10 Allwell Tests on Monday 5th March, 2018 a catch-up testing date is available on Monday 12th March, 2018.
